What do they mean by match dogs please?

I have a feeling they mean coursing dogs but could be totally wrong.

I believe and anyone correct me if Im wrong its when they put them up against another dog for hare coursing and one dog is obviously better than the other, ie turns with the hare etc closer to the action.
