Can someone explain to me the meaning of being 'tucked up' ? I've heard quite a few people saying this about horses, but never been sure of what it meant! So i kept quiet!!... But now i have the chance to ask all my random questions to all you lovely horsey people!!! ha ha!

I always thought tucked up as meaning in need of food and / or water. I know my big lad has looked a little that way in the past if I had groomed him a little too long lol and not given him hay as I was doing it.
He just gets a visible line/groove showing horizontally along his belly.
A racehorse friend of mine told me the same thing about the line and I have to say to having seen it a few times on racehorses especially the ones who have travelled a fair bit to the course.

Daughter's pony is usually tucked up the day after hunting. It's where his tummy slopes up to his hind legs - it's more pronounced.

After some turn out and a light hack he's usually back to normal.

Perhaps it's tension?
