A couple of years ago, I visited the Morgan breeding facility at University of Vermont, fell in love with the breed, and had the good fortune to ride a 15hh Morgan this past summer. He was strong as hell, intelligent, agile, had an amazing trot, and was a ton of fun. I've read that Morgans have a great work ethic, though they can also be stubborn and independent. Any tips on the breed's negatives and positives from Morgan insiders?
I'm planning to buy a horse within the next year (I'm an ex-pat, living in the NY area), and plan to do plenty of lively hacking, with hunter trials in the autumn and a little showjumping in the summer. Does a Morgan sound like a good match?
