can someone please expalin this

Isn't this a form of "hobbling"?
I've only ever seen that done on either the hinds or the fores though, never seen it linking a hind and a fore!
But, yes, I think it's used to stop a horse wandering off in a place that isn't suitable to tie up, like tethering. I have a feeling they have to be "hobble-trained", though.

Why would someone who didn't want to feed their horse anymore bother to hobble it? Surely they'd just set it free :confused:
 
as far as i was aware they are tied like that so they cant run off as i suppose they wouldnt go far tied like that but there may be other reasons behind it
 
I think that they are a form of hobble, to stop the horses from wondering away.


^ this. Friend in the States often hobbles her horse when she stays overnight camping on the trails with her horse, though with 'proper' hobbles and only on the fronts. Her horse always seems happy with it, though he's very much used to it. :)
