Im looking in to getting a synthetic saddle with changable gullet system for when my youngster is broken in. Im looking at second hand ones as i dont really have the need for a new one and once shes 5ish i would be looking to get a leather one for her anyway.

Im slightly confused about the CAIR and Fish things though, can anyone explain to me about them? and am i better with them or without them?

Is getting a synthetic saddle for a youngster the right approach aswell?? Im a little unsure about it as i dont have money to waste! everyone else i know just seems to plonk any old saddle on them and never incures any problems :s Even when i get a saddle fitted i still seem to have problems :(

CAIR is an airbag type of 'flocking' that Bates Wintec offer. They also have the changeable gullets to use to adjust the fitting of the saddle.

Fish is a series of shims that Thorowgood use to adjust the fit of their saddles.

I use Wintec synthetic saddles to back my youngsters. I like synthetic saddles for the youngsters as they are light and to be honest are cheap enough that I don't worry about them getting damaged if the youngster does something really daft (none have to date though).
