Hey guys. The long and short of it is, Bria is just unrideable when she is in season and it's just getting ridiculous now, as her training is becoming more intense and she is starting to compete - yet when shes in season thats it, everything has to be cancelled because shes impossible.
So i'm gonna put her on a hormone supplement (moody mare, oestress...) but not sure which one to try? Anyone recommend any? There are so many that I want to try one that has worked for people (as i found with respiratory supplements for Rock, most of them just don't work).
When shes not in season shes an angel. Also her seasons are all over the place so impossible to predict when the next one will be.
So yeh, can anyone give me their experience of any of the "mare" supplements that you put in feed - nothing like regumate though, I wana try her on something less intense first (And less expensive).

Slut Mix from Horse Health is good.

) and found it very good. Had difficulty obtaining it at one point so used Hormonise which has same active ingredient and worked as well.

I've tried oestress which works on my friend mare but didn't seem to make a differnce to mine - I use Dobson & Horrell Stroppy Mare which works wonders on my mare.

i use hormonise (liquid chaste berry) - it costs about £19 from feed merchant for the standard sized bottle which lasts about 3 weeks - you pour it over feed. you feed it for 3 weeks then have a week off then start again for another 3 weeks and so on. I believe it worked for my girl.

Spring is on oestress and I find it works well (or maybe it is a psychological thing for me!

), she is less clingy with other horses and just a lot more mellow.

I use Equilibrium.
My mare sounds similar to yours(but i wouldnt call her an angel even when shes not in season!!), when i first got her she came in and out of season 3 times in 4 weeks and was awful to deal with!! We put her on this and she is much more regular now.
Shes still not dead easy when in season but alot easier than she was.

Is a supplement made by Hilton Herbs (We have to get it off the website as there isnt a local distributor!). It comes in a liquid or normal dried flowers type version (not sure how else to describe it!) We started Bea on the Liquid as it gets into their system quicker and is £22 for 1litre. She is now maintained on the dry stuff which is £16 for 1kg. 1 bottle of liquid and 1 tub of the dry stuff lasted us 9 weeks. You can buy refil bags of the dry version which is slighty cheaper.
I have never had any trouble gettin my horse to eat it, she loves it and i really rate it. She is just more chilled out and her seasons are not as frequent and her behaviour is not as bad when in season.
