Can someone remind me

... what it's like to have a sound horse?? Maiden is very very lame, I am clinging on to the hope of it being an abcess but the heat in the foot has almost gone after only 2 bute (for a 650kg + horse). I have a gut feeling it is related to the tendon.
Gave her another bute this evening on vet's recommendation and will see how she is in the morning. Bless her, I had no chaff and feed room was locked so no chance of borrowing any, I gouged a hole in an apple with a hoof pick and she ate it in the middle of the apple!
If no change by morning vet will be called again (especially as I only have 2 bute left... damned long weekend) and farrier. I just don't know what to do any more

I'm not sure there is anything I can do apart from keep giving her bute and hope she comes sound sooner rather than later. Box rest will only make it worse as she'll stress and box walk. I am almost at the end of my tether
