can something as simple supplements to feed rapidly change behaviour?

My rising 3 yr old has just turned really aggressive and boulshy in the last week or so, he is normally a littly bit ceeky and tries to nip but is now turning his bum on us, rearing and trying to strike us and really trying to lay into us with his teeth. All i have changed is adding a NAF general supplement, pro hooves liquid (which has just run out) so replaced in last few days with biotin and linseed oil. He just has a small amount of mollichaff and youngstock cubes twice a day.
 
:) Hi there sorry to hear of your youngster's naughtiness - we seem to have a spate of spooky, nappy, hard to catch & generally "unusual" behaviour at our yard - even in some oldies who should know better!! None have changed feed/supplements but we FINALLY have a little spring grass poking through and I think it has gone to their (collective) heads. Don't know if this could be at least part of your problem?? other quick thought is that your baby has hit the "terrible teens" and is trying to push the boundaries so :eek: some firm "manners cost nothing" reminders might help! Good luck!!:D
 
Been a spate of bad behaviour round us this w/end. Friend got spooked of her cob this weekend, husbands horse threw a hizzy (rearing & spinning) because he would not let her gallop after some other horses & fellow liveries daughter fell off her pony. Normally all well behaved - think finally seeing decent weather + small amount of grass has gone to their heads!
 
My shetland has gone from placid/quiet to all out reckless... dragging the boys round by their rugs, rearing, fidgeting, can't walk anywhere its either rodeo canter or gallop and she's gone up the pecking order now... I feel bad for Ollie he's a 15.2 tb x ID big softie and she literally stomps all over him.

I just started feeding my appy on Mag Ox. He's total opposite, gone from dragging me in from the field rearing and squealing (starved the poor thing) to a dopey donkey. No grass coming through yet, just mag ox and a change in the weather.
 
Naf d-itch turned my horse from laid back to electric in 30c heat. He would usually be bone idle in this weather. His usual demeaner returned once he supplement was stopped
 
Oh, I also tried the same appy on Stroppy Gelding a few yrs ago. Had to scrape him off the ceiling next day and spent a day or two dodging his temper tantrums, which stopped within 48hrs of taking him off the supplement.
 
Spring grass is low in mag and horses will react to it, like cows get staggers horses get full of themselves. Try a little mag ox, if it works than he was lacking. Expensive calmers are a waste of money if its mag your horse wants so worth trying. People blame the spring grass but its actually the lack of mag in the grass that brings loads of problems
