Can type 1 diabetics drive non-hgv horseboxes?

I know they can't drive HGVs...

But does anyone know whether they can drive non-hgv horseboxes?

Don't see why not but will be interested in answers you get because my husband is type 1 and I was just about to include him on our new lorry's insurance.It had never occured to me that it might be an issue.

You only need a normal driving license so why not..

Thing is, if you're type 1 diabetic, you don't have a normal license, you have a temporary one that gets reviewed depending on your controlling of your blood sugar levels..

Have just checked OH's license and he seems to be able to but his license has to be reviewed every three years.

My mum is diabetic and we weren't sure whether she would be able to drive a horsebox as she isn't allowed to drive lorries

Up to 3.5T, yes, but no heavier.

I would check with the DVLA to be sure. I am going to before I insure him.

It is now possible to get approval for C1 ( up to 7.5 tonnes) subject to various sensible criteria. and they are still campigning.
