I am thinking of selling a lot of rugs that my youngsters have grown out of, probably on eBay, but don't know what to put as a minimum price.
Are we allowed to ask 'how much' for them, do you suppose, or will TFC or Admin beat us?
S :D

Umm trouble with rugs there usually quite heavy, (to post) and people don't want to spend alot on 2nd hand ones!

You would be better off selling at your local tack sale!

In my (limited) experience, if your rugs are popular makes, don't put a reserve and start them at 99p - they will make decent money. I have sold plenty on ebay, mainly rambos, and have always had lots of interest due to the low start price.

I was looking to sell Horseware Rambos...not keen to have such a low minimum (I'd have to sell for that, wouldn't I?)

You would have to sell yes. You do seem to get bidders engaged in a battle if you start low though, but then I suppose there is always that risk. You could always get 'someone' to 'buy' at the last minute if the price is looking a bit doubtful - or is that unethical/illegal?! :D

It's against the rules (and unethical) to place your own bids.
Besides, I don't trust myself to pay up. :p

i always decide what i want for something, the lowest price i would be happy with and start the items at that. at least you will get what you want. just be realistic. i have bought a few second hand rugs and have paid about £20 + p&p but rambos and fals get more. you can always do the make me an offer at the end of your listing then peeps can send you a message.

I've been selling some secondhand rugs recently. A friend of mine emailed my list to loads of her contacts and it included someone from a riding club who put my list on their for sale part of the RC website. I got most of the interest from there so I didnt need to sell via ebay. Remember if you use paypal they deduct a percentage before you get the rest of the money.

Try local riding club websites first maybe?

Also Royal Mail do a 'send it now' service which is £10.50 and you can send a parcel up to 30kg.

i want to sell one of mine - brand new - been tried on 6'3 blue check but! ebaying it would just mean that it would cost a lot on postage. so theres no point

id try preloved tbh/

I don't suppose there's any chance of you shrinking it 3 inches? :p :D.

I echo not putting it on eBay. They don't always get the price but starting at 99p will get ineterest and bids. Just make sure you describe the title properly so the rug comes up in searches :).

I use 'collectmyparcel.com' who charge about £8 for a decent sized parcel, for 48 hour delivery....and they come to your door to collect it....BARGAIN!

ps.....hypothetically, if you were asking a price, what size would said rugs be!?

I've just bought one from e-bay, a 5'6 Masta heavyweight turnout. This one had a starting price of £20.00 they only got 3 bids and I got it for £22, yet all the ones with no reserve or starting price were going for a lot more.

Guess it's just luck of the draw really.

Can you Pm me what you have? I have a youngster who has outgrown his rugs from last year and i am now looking on ebay for this years grow outs lol

ebay seem to have a free listing weekend this weekend, Saturday and Sunday. The only thing you save is the listing fee though and I think additional photos, buy it now and reserves etc are still chargeable. You have to use the Quick sell or Advanced sell (Sell Your Item) forms (whatever they are).

It's so complicated now I just don't bother to sell anything on it any more.

You get more bidders if you put them at 99p and £6.00 p&p (use parcel 2 go, cheapest place around!) if they are good conditioned its more then likely to go for a lot, if your not happy then you can always pull it out (wrong thing to do but...)

ive put my saddle (wintec) on ebay.... i know that will sell but its a pain in the butt posting it :/

You can only pull it out if you have it offered for sale elsewhere and state this in your auction
