Am considering having a go at some of the showing classes at a local agricultural show in three weeks including best turned out and riding horse....but would really like to have a go at the working hunter - he loves his jumping and is quite bold but responsive so no worries on that front but he's full TB and am thinking that he's maybe a bit light? He's full up 16.2 and has got just over 8" bone and has muscled and fattened up a little from these pictures.

What do you reckon?

You should do very well, as long as he gives the judge a nice ride.My old mare got to the finals at HOYS and was placed at RIHS even though she was only 16 hands and 8" of bone. She jumped anything, and the bigger tracks suited her. Here is a pic of her at HOYS, and at a 2* event at Weston.

In my personal opinion he is a little light to be a working hunter, however at local level you could easily do it and win if he goes well. Local judges tend to look to performance over anything else, so I'd go and enjoy it!

If you do find the judges saying he comes up a little light some shows ie; PUK etc. do riding horse and cob working hunter classes combined. To me he is fractionally light but certainly not enough to stand against him... Best of luck and go for it....

all u can do is try and see what judges say!
at local he iwll be fine! higher levels I am not sure but if u ask around etc...... sure he will be fine!

without sounding stupid if he is 100% Tb is he an ex racer or anything? as they do hteir own classes with a jumping round

He is an ex-racer and have been looking at the ROR classes and hope to do some next year but am currently almost 6 months pregnant and have a young girl riding him for me. She is really just ticking him over and doing the odd local event but hopefully he'll go well!
