Not ready to go into too much detail because it makes me sad but we’ve dealing with a stubborn abscess in the form of a large bump on the coronet band for some time now. Vets are involved and after scanning on Monday we’re trying antibiotics currently (we’ve been poulticing and tubbing for weeks now). Vets are baffled because of the scans, and apparently sent them off to donington who also haven’t seen anything like it before. They called me yesterday for an update and have said that If we haven’t significantly improved by next week then our options are a risky surgery to open it up (most likely under GA which terrifies me - he’s 20 years old) or PTS because it’s clearly uncomfortable.

My poor lad ☹️

Many vibes winging your way.

A friend had one with something that sounds similar, also an old boy. It took a long time on antibiotics, months, but it did resolve in the end.

Sending lots of hugs to you also this weekend, I’m facing the same decision this week for 18yr old coblet after long and protracted lameness issues and it’s truly heartbreaking isnt it? I moved him to live out 24/7 with a herd and I’m not prepared for intervention, stabling and box rest again x
