Can worms cause lameness?

If the worms cause discomfort in the large intestine (I think tapeworms can) you might notice the horse being 'off' in their off hind because part of the large intestine lies just in front of the top part of that leg. I've noticed my mare go slightly off in that leg when she's been suffering from an upset tum before, she doesn't go lame but you can feel her being ever so slightly short if you are used to how she is normally. I've also known horses get LGL-style footiness if they have had something happen that disturbs the gut & affects their digestion. My mare got footy after she had antibiotics for a kick injury, and I have heard of footiness being associated with administration of wormers (ETA - these are barefoot horses, you might not notice if it's a shod horse). I wonder whether a worm infestation might affect the digestion & cause footiness too ;)
