Would you have liked to have sat it out in a horsebox?
Oh yes ladies and gents, Rob had sold his lovely horsebox that we had got used to swanning about in for a bigger one, slight floor to the master plan being time has lapsed between buying and selling, Lincs show being in it.
We travelled from the Cheshire straight to Lincs show with a short swap of horses inbetween. Well we were happy (
) to find out that we were in temp stabling due to huge amount of entires- you know what temp stabling looks like- a glorified beer tent kind of thing...
Got all of our horses settled in and hunted down our fellow show clique to asseble chairs, insect repellant and wine...
...And boy did the clouds roll in. Big black clouds and the wind just..stopped. In the distance we could see lightening but the horses were unfazed, little four year old cared for nothing but food and even archie was happy eying up the horse in the next stable. But all of a sudden this torrent of rain ushered us back to the boxes and we ended up sat in the back of one of our lorries drinking vino...Until it really started, lightening every 30seconds and some hefty rain. First time our box leaks is during this, because there was no wind it came straight down through the ramp and all I can say is thank GOD to Easibed- Ellen is sponsored by them so we had oodles to soak it all back up :S
After a night of holding up buckets exercising began at 5am, four horses, and only bec and I to ride. Friday (the 4yo) class was at 8am and she came 6th in the 4yos ridden hunter. I was quite disheartened actually because the highest placed were the very very big 16.2-17hh 4yos, and the judge commented that with such "fine larger horses she regretted placing our little mare down order" Friday moves brill but is only 16.1, still far to large to squeeze into a small hunter class.
Bertie came 7th in his class as there were disagreements between him and Bec about the scary grandstand and hounds in the next ring.
Lenic jumped the Mid day stakes with Rob whit and didnt do too well, he back off of one of the assents far too much and tangled himself. I had the pleasure of getting him ready for rob who I can safely say knows diddly squat about tacking up and really made me giggle with his approach to studding up.
Finally Arch was 4th in the Workers with the more impressive jumping round, an unlucky 4f but enough to put him through to the next phase as there were 58 entered and only 3clears in the novice- proof of a VERY VERY technical and up to height novice. So yes, a rushed, wet but very sucessful Lincs show
Sorry for long report x
