Can you change a vets mind ?

I have chosen not too put my shoeing through my insurance in the hope of protecting the amount I have left on my claim. They have already said that they would need to do an MRI again to check any improvement/progress etc . I have spoken to another local vets who I know have treated and sent a horse to Rockley with the similar issues and have said if I don't get any joy they would be happy to take his case on and review it with view to doing a referral for me - so frustrating as I have been with my vets for over 20 years and they have never let me down or been anything other than fab

Oh that's great!:)
I'd like to thank the Barefoot Taliban here - they have to keep banging on, because it can take a long time for the penny to drop as to how and why it all works. Personal experience speaking:o

I am over the moon - its been the bit of good news equine related that I needed after the last few weeks with the pair of them (bloody tb's :P ) The original vet that saw him has come back to my case as such so had a long convo with her earlier in the week - she has gone off and done her research - she isn't totally sold as by her own admission their training is for remedial shoeing but she is happy to support me in my choice for him.

My vet wasn't 100% convinced either.. But he's now on referral #3 ;) Pretty good going since Buddy only came home in Feb!!

Bit of an update - well he has gone :) I took him down to Rockley on Thursday (would highly recommend not driving from kent to devon and back in a day but hey ho ) apparently has settle well and isn't too sore despite the raging thrush that had taken hold under the pads :( eagily awaiting his first blog up date as I miss his great big ginger face :)

Frog "supports" are a nice idea in theory. However the hoof likes pressure AND release. Constant pressure just tends to crush the tissues rather than stimulating or "supporting" them. Same with wedges unfortunately. The theory just doesn't match the reality.

Brilliant!!

I stayed with my original vets and a fabulous newly qualified lovely gorgeous wonderful person has stuck their neck out for me and written the referral for me - she did think me a little odd when I cried at her for doing it but she has been truly awesome

Beat wishes and I shall look forward to updates.
