I am reluctant to spend on a showing saddle and wondered if you can show in a dressage saddle. It is havana with Suede. Well it is an Albion Lux saddle. It has shortened straps, so therefore takes a normal girth.

Thanks

You'll get away with it at local shows

You can, particularly if you have a normal girth on it. I don't think the Lux has a particularly deep seat either (if I remember correctly?) so that would be even better. Main thing is not to have a dressage length tail (unless you are showing M&Ms, arabs or trads) and get the saddle back further than you would normally if you were doing dressage.

Ummm.....My saddle has a really deep seat unfortunately (But I love it!). I have a Part bred arab, how does the tail thing work then? he is part arab part connie!

I reckon I could do PBA classes, riding horse, small workers.
He is 15 hh, grey. Any other suggestions??? I am new to showing, but he is very flashy and tink will do well.

I've recently been pondering the same thing, can't afford a sjhowing saddle and a dressage saddle so was going to get one or the other and use it for both!

I am useless with technology. He isn't the horse in my avatar just to be useful!

He is conne in body, arab in face and arab in movement. Does that help??? He is a lightweight horse more towards the arab end of the spectrum with good bone.

I would go for something like an ideal ramsay straight cut showing saddle, which looks sufficiently dressagey but without an immensely deep seat. Very comfortable.

If you are doing riding horse/ workers etc, then the tail should be cut just a few inches below the hock. If you look in my signature, you can see Bob's tail length which would be about right - maybe an inch longer.

Yes of course you can, I did County level Riding Horse for years and only ever showed my girl in a dressage saddle as I too could not afford a show saddle as well, although she was typical stamp of a riding horse but as long as they are well cut at the shoulder and show your neds good bits, no worries!

I was thinking of going down the route of a WOW saddle as we do jumping and showing, and ever changing shape Flash makes saddle fitting somewhat difficult, then I could select a seat that wasn't too deep, as I wouldn't want that for jumping either. Just haven't got round to having a demo, even tho they're based a few miles away! Never know what's going to be comfortable and suit us until we give a few things a try tho!
