..Hey everyone, just wondered can you go and have western lessons, asin not with your own horse but go to a RS which does western? Obviously if you went over to america etc.. but I mean over here?
Also does anyone do western with there own horse? Isit really that more comfortable?

Thanks x

it is soooooooo much more comfy and relaxed, you feel like you're sitting in an armchair and your seat is so much more secure.

There are places that do western lesson, you'd have to do a google!

There are a few registered riding schools who offer Western lessons, but they are spread around the country. Off the top of my head, there's Oakridge Quarter Horses at Collingham near Newark, Notts; Sovereign Quarter Horses at Coldham Bank near March, Cambs; Mendip Stud at Axbridge, Somerset; Sandlin Performance Horses near Malvern, Worcs. By no means a comprehensive list, there are also quite a few places that do more trail riding tuition, you could also contact your local rep at the Western Equestrian Society (Area 2), all are googlable. Yeah, I guess I am one of those that enjoys riding Western more!

but you need your own horse, she is doing a clinic at Tushigham nr Whitchurch shropshire on the 28 feb, run by WES area 2 she is a brillant teacher of people and horses so well worth a look...

I can recomend the mendip stud in somerset! They are lovely and have some amazing horses. Western def isn't for me but I did really enjoy myself and it was lovely watching their stallions work and in the barn. (surrounded by mares and being saints!)
