Looking for 2 pairs of Equilibrium sun chaps for my UV sensitive boy - do you have a pair gathering dust that you'd like to sell? He has suffered from leukocytoclastic vasculitis in the past, and I try to keep his legs out of the sun to avoid it returning. He's a 16hh TB so medium size would probably be best.

I have some Rambo Vamoose fly boots that help, but would like a second set of UV boots to allow regular swapping/ use when the sun is very strong and cut down on washing boots! Equilibrium have halted production so can't buy new at the moment.

Thanks in advance :)

Sorry to hijack, how tough do you find the vamoose boots? My gelding keeps cutting himself where he's stamping at the flies and I've thought about getting him some, but hes out 24/7 and he brushes/ generally self harms so I wonder if I'd just find them shredded?!

The vamoose ones are good but they come up big. I got the medium (cob) size for my TB and they're very wide. Because I have to do them up so far along the Velcro they slip down - just can't fasten them tight enough. I did consider buying him some pony size ones but then you lose the height. They're very soft though, My boy is susceptible to pretty much anything rubbing his legs and these don't. Good value too £25ish for a set of 4.

Maybe I just talked myself into trying the pony sized ones lol.

Thanks for the nfed link, have emailed the seller :).

I looked at the Cashel Crusaders but they are really expensive... Might see if I can find some second hand :)

I have a very titchy 15.1hh-ish ex racer with stick legs and I have found that medium Equilibrium ones fit her well on fronts although all I could get were larges at the time for one pair so she has those on hinds. They are ok although the velcro is a bit flappy and only overlaps a few cms but never had issues with them coming undone. And I think the mediums wouldn't come high enough up her back legs as her white sock extends quite high in places so large is better length-wise to stop any UV. Oh the joys of LV....

How robust are they? Are they made of similar mesh as the rambo protectors/bug busters? How long does your horse wear them for?

Umm no sure on similarities as I don't own either product. He wears them during the day, typically 12 hrs, but I take them off at night to avoid any risk of rubbing/ wash them if required .

They're relatively durable but they wouldn't withstand a horse that likes to trash stuff.. They're basically a soft mesh/ soft layered fabric. I've had to sew the Velcro back on a few times too. I must say though, my boy is very happy in them, he is covered from head to toe in anti fly gear and he is so much more comfortable - he gets easily irritated by flies as well as UV - Mr High Maintenance!

Thanks for the link to the tack shop, I will check it out!
