Hi,

Im going to bite the bullet and try to advertise my lovely project pony Jake :( I really want to keep him as hes so ace but he really should have a new mum who can spend more time with him and going out to have fun with him :( :(

Will put him in H&H and Horsequest but not sure which picture to put in. Can you pick your fave... Im going to say on the advert I have tons that can email but want to get people to notice him.

3) A bit far away...

4) Jumping a bit big, over a pretty small jump is that offputting?! It does show his neatness though

5) I have this one in a less fuzzy version but not on my computer

I think I like 1 or 4 the best. I wish 3 was closer as I think thats the nicest. He is a real allrounder so not sure if a flat one or a jump one is better....

Or more photo shoots?!?? He is only 4 so cant change his way of going too much but might get better snaps.

What do you think?

Thanks Vicki :)

Ideally one that is closer than you have, they will not reproduce well enough for an ad. The one of him jumping the log is nice but it could be any horse.
I would take some more and if you can get a good jumping one they always catch peoples eye.
He is a very nice type and with a good photo should get some interest.

I have written him a slightly soppy advert so I was almost tempted to put this one in as I think it sums up his sweetness but I know you cant say "he jumps, schools, hacks and is generally ace" with this picture of him just standing... (and hes in my other horses tack so looks like he needs a grakle!)

...but it is just him, sweet and gormless (in the best way!) at a crazy busy competition

The log one would be nice if it was clear. Perhaps try and get a clear, nice jumping one that's more likely to get someones attention than a flat work one. And maybe i'm going mad but is he in draw reins? That would put me off too, but i could be wrong...

You must be going mad!!!!!! I HATE draw reins and would never put a baby in them!! Which one looks like he has them on? The 2nd one?

Yeah the second one, do you have double reins then? Or am i still going mad haha!?

I can see what you mean- the upper rein is the rein attached to the other side of the bit :)

If I'm totally honest, none of them. He's smart and well-produced, and these photos don't show that. I'd go and beg a friend/ parent to come and take some smart photos of him doing some flatwork and jumping a a nice oxer. That's what I'd want to see really...

It is just 1 rein on his normal snaffle bridle I promise!!

I'm to hefty to jump him and my skinny friend has just gone for a operation. So might have to get someone on him for picture whilst jumping.

Or I might just use the wall picture and photoshop another rail in lollll.

Ps. Kidding :)

Eventhough 3 is further away, I would use that one as he is carrying himself alot better. Could you not crop the image to make it bigger?

looks like he will make a useful horse. pic 1 is nice as is the fuzzy log, however i would take some more similar shots but closer up, in white numnah and bandages, beige jods boots and plain hat silk and dark top for the rider as i think that would set him up better than the turquoise set, and quarter silk dark rider. but just my thouoghts. Best of luck selling him he looks a nice sort.

VJ you are obviously finding this upsetting so why not just give him to me.
I have a lovely big box of jaffa cakes you can have if that helps :D
Seriously though he is gorgeous but i'm still in plaster so not allowed to go buying yet

I like number 1 the best but do think it'd be worth getting a few more pics! One nice, sharp, close up picture of him doing flatwork, and then a jumping pic of him over an oxer. Doesn't need to be big, he looks like he has decent style :)

Hint (which judging by the pics you've caught on to??) - try taking a nice close up video and getting a still? Especially for jumping pics because the timing can be so difficult!

I think you should definitely take some more photos. He looks like a very nice pony who performs well but those photos are dark, fuzzy and at a distance, so don't show him off well and aren't eye-catching enough to make him stand out in a page full of ads.

See if you can find someone with a decent camera (perhaps a bridge camera or SLR but definitely one with a decent zoom) and get them to do another photo shoot on a brighter day - as others have said one side on flatwork pic and one side on over a spread, preferably with a filler as well. Worth taking the time before you waste money paying for ads that might not show him to full advantage.

Personally I think more photos are needed. And I agree with the comment about maybe dressing up with white bandages and pad. The aqua is very nice, but think white always looks smartest. Saying that I think I saw a picture on another thread that you posted of him in the aqua, but angled slightly coming towards you, and he looked like he was working more "up", but obviously its a shame its not completely side on, but makes me think if you could get one of him looking more "up" from the side in the white set. Easier said than done I know lol!!

Jumping wise I always think pro pics from shows look so much better than ones taken in the school, makes it look like they've done a bit more too. I'm unaware of the stage of his training and how many things he's gone out to, and when you want to sell him by as to whether this is appopriate, but are there any competition venues nearby that always have a photographer for sj classes? You could even have a word with them before hand if there is a fence that looks pretty impressive you think he'll jump well?!

He looks like a very very nice horse, but think photos could be better :)

none of those would catch my eye or I think do him justice, I would certainly try and get some more before advertising him :)

none of them tbf.
they look like theyve been taken with a mobile, not clear at all.
Can't you get someone to take some pics w/ a decent cam?

I thought white bandages on a 4 year old looked a bit try hard. I will see if my step dad can pop up with his nice camera. Finding a nice day might be a bit more of a challenge!

He had some pro pics but the jumps are small from a hunter trial

Chiddingfold hunter trial No 34

Not sure I like any of those though....
