I was just wondering if anyone knows the minuimum age, for someone i.e. ME!, to go to other yards to groom/wash/clean/pamper etc someones horse/s???

I have just devolped an amazing technequie and i am very egar to use to! My mum said she would be more than happy of rme to do this if that helps. My dream is to do this, sort of. But i'm almost 12 and i can't even get a small job yet.

I hope someone can tell me. My mum and dad siad they will drive when where i need to go when i can get this job.
At this point in time i am grooming quite a lot of the horses at my yard for free, is that illegal?
Also if i can could i groom peoples horses for free at a younger age than paying??
Can someone maybe tell me what i should include in my ad when i post it?

Thanks

I expect you can go to a yard but would need to be under adult supervision at all times. Do u have your own pony? When I was your age I was working at the riding school in exchange for a ride and absolutely loved it :).

I think i am right in saying you have to be 13 or 14 (not sure which) before you can get a paid job, you also need writen permission from school i think, but this may have changed since my daughter was at school! Also you can onley work a specific amount of hours a week!

I'm not sure it would be treated as a job as such as you are unlikey to get an employment contract etc- isnt it more like washing people's cars for a bit of pocket money?

in that case, as long as you dont do too much, and always wear a hat and are supervised with the yard and horse owners' permission then id think you would be ok.

what were you thinking of charging? do you have any pictures of how well you can turn out a horse? maybe a showing yard would let you help out?

This is correct. Minimum age for anybody to be paid for any work they carry out is 13. The employer gives a permit application form to the child to fill in and it also needs to be signed for permission by the child's head teacher/head of year. The child's school then passes the application form onto the Local Education Authority and informs them if it satisfactory for the child to carry out work without it affecting their school work/attendance. If all is well, the employer receives the child employment permit, and the child receives a copy of it for reference.

Some councils allow the child to begin work whilst the permit is being processed, but for some you have to wait until the permit is in place. The local LEA might also add a few extra conditions to the permit, such as the type of work carried out, and the hours the child is allowed to work each day. It's usually 3 hours per day during term time, and four during school holidays - but this varies from council to council.

If a child is working without a permit either processing or in place, the employer can be fined up to £10,000.

I believe that in some types of work that risk assessments etc need to be carried out as well, and I should imagine for any paid work, your employer would need to have some sort of insurance in place.

overtherainbow - i was thinking maybe £5 for 14.2hh and under i.e. ponies and £8.50ish for 14.2hh +. Of course giants like 18hh i might need a stool (i'm 5ft 3", so not bad)!!!

Also i cant supply a photo yet of how great i can do, but will do tommorrow. Also it won't be the best photo as i'm broken my arm about 3 weeks ago and am not getting it of untill the 15th of Feb, but will still be good.

I'll post a picture of my NF and my mums Thoroughbred.

Only had time to do my mums horse Connor:

OP - it's really not sensible to have a link to your facebook profile on such a large public forum. (And you shouldn't even be on facebook at your age )

For your safety please think about removing the links :)
