can you make a sharp horse less sharp

Yes a relaxed attitude and calm handling can help as can a large amount of turn out and sensible feeding. Be careful about sending sharp horses away as they need to go to quite riders in a reasonably quiet yard. Often to send them away for a week or so can cause more trouble then help.

My boy quietened down when he was reschooled - I did it myself with the help of a knowledgable yard owner. He still needs work but certain feed (baileys buildup) sent him around the twist so he's on showmix, nuts and Hifi now.

I think my attitude to him has changed (don't let him stress me out) and that certainly helps him!

My horse was incredibly sensitive when l first got him terrified of what l was going to do to him it took me about 18months to relax and trust me but he now has 46BE points and is a star!!!

Yes, my boy was transformed when I started doing pleasure and endurance rides where we met loads of new things on each ride...he really grew up and learn't to deal with things better. I also changed my approached and really concentrated on taking things in my stride and not getting worked up. We have not look back since! He also gets tonnes of turnout and is on grass and hay so is better that way too.

He has a lot of turnout and we have been reschooling him only fed on a nite coolmix and alfa a and magnatude , have him up for sale at the moment but know I not so sure as he is a changed horse since his last owner . its just he can be sharp and as I have acl tear in my knee I cannot ride him , plus oh had issue with him other evening which has been explained kids tightened his headcoller too tight and was seen being kicked by yo house .
What canI do one friend says stick it out as he has changed while with me , its just I think he needs more time for scholing than I can give?

My horse has really quitened down now I have moved him from a big yard and brought him home where he has three friends, and also I have put him on a magnesium supplement and am sure that has also taken the edge off him as he really was highly strung.
