As the title says can you mix pergolide and herbal supplements for cushings??? My mare has just gone on 1 tablet of pergolide/day and just prior to this I had just ordered another tub of Naf Cushinaze! She has just come down with laminitis for the first time but has only mild other symptoms. She has slightly thicker coat, is a bit lathargic and has pot bellied appearance. But she doesnt drink/wee excessively. Ideally once we are over the laminitis then I would like to try her on 1/2 a tablet with the herbal supplements but does this work/can you do it?

I can not comment on mixing Pergolide with anything but I do have two Cushings horses.

They are each on one 250 microgram of Pergolide per day.

I keep both their weights down so that one can see their ribs and haunches. They are still in work. Both are on restricted grazing (traditional grass) with about two square metres of fresh grass each day (move the electric fencing slightly each day).

They are also on bran, hi-fi lite, low-cal, linseed, Formula4Feet and Cod Liver Oil.

I think depending on the supplement - i would however contact your vet and ask if it is safe. What are you thinking of using?

Bensababy - the Naf Cushinaze which includes chaste berry.
Owlie185 - she is normally out 24/7 on strip grazing. At the moment they are in the hay field but during spring and summer they come back into the first grazing field, again behind an electric fence and are on not a lot! I am supprised as to what they find! All she gets in the winter is Fast Fibre and/or speedi beet and at the moment is in on soaked hay. What is the formula for feet like?
