Can you offset horse expenditure against things you don't do/sacrifice

How about not having a social life so you don't spend any money on drink - approx £200 a month saving?

Thats how I justify it!! I work for my horse, he takes up a large chunk of it, but then again I am not much of a drinker or partier, don't do beauty stuff (I despise the hairdresser!!!). I do sometimes wish I had money to make my car better/faster.

But its a way of life, and I love it!! Worth every penny!
 
i used to eat out nearly every night, and drink with it and now, i just dont eat and having to get up for my boy means i rarely drink, so i am winning on 2 counts, financial (hmm dont think it works like that) and liver / kidney health!
 
Gym membership - £40 per month
Clothes shopping - £80 per month
Hairdressers - £100 every six weeks ( i only go every 6 months at the mo!)
Flash car - £200 pm (drive scabby estate instead)
Social life - £60 per month

Wow....I must go shopping at the weekend and get some new horsey stuff with all that money I've saved

My horses save me a fortune in gym membership, therapy, entertainment, and getting up so early for him means I'm more than happy to sacrifice drinking and social life, used to spend at least £200 a month on socialising, probably another £100 on clothes and shoes, then all the other bits easily make Flash seem a bargain in comparison!
 
i think of the thousands i could be sniffing up my nose if i had been crazy enough to do drugs, and i reckon i've justified my horse habit in one go!
i hardly drink. i don't smoke. saving a flippin fortune right there.
no kids, i'd rather have foals and puppies.
eat out about once or twice a month only... that saves a fortune.
don't have expensive fashion tastes... i hoard everything anyway, and it's amazing how trends come around again if you're patient enough (and manage not to change size too much!)

never had a bit expensive wedding... i second that one. £20k+ on one day. i don't THINK so.

that's it. i'm smug enough to have a horse now.

Only ever going shopping every 6 months for clothes, and then I can only go to Primark - money saved = about £80 a month.

Growing hair long and dying it at home - money saved = £80 every 6 weeks

Never going out drinking - money saved = about £20 a week

Learning how to fix fuel spill off pipes on my car by myself saved me £30 at the weekend!

Running my beloved 10 year old scruffy diesel Peugeot 306 saves me about £30 a month in fuel because it's so economical and you can fit two saddles, two hats, a back protector, coats, a bridle, half chaps and joddy boots in the boot alone (note: I only have one horse!!!)

Basically i don't go out, I don't buy clothes or get my hair done, but I don't earn a lot of money and I'm happy to spend my money on my lovely pony.

I have convinced OH he is saving a fortune, I have the oldest car in my work car park, I dont need to be wined and dined, new clothes - what are they, as for hair doos and manicures - they would be watsred on me.

I dont do diamonds or gold - and my BD & xmas pressies are always easy - vouchers for horse stuff/horse books etc etc.

Even better I have moulded a teenager who would never buy a designer label and says things like - oh that will be all right with a few stitches, plenty of life left in that.

He should be greatful for our horses

Seriously...you get good at telling white lies, and getting rugs delivered to work and taking them straight to the yard etc!!
