Hi all,

Have advertised my Albion SLK dressage saddle in the usual places, and as yet, have had no takers. A few interested parties, but saddle is still for sale.

Am I asking too much for it? 18 inch, black, MW to Wide fit. good condition. I'm asking £650 or thereabouts for it. Is that too much? I thought it was quite reasonable, but am happy to be corrected.

thanks. sorry if this seems as advertising (not meant to be). am just wondering if i have priced myself out of the market, or if people are just not buying saddles at the moment?

thanks

You don't say how old it is. Saddles Direct advertise that they buy saddles. Obviously they will only give you a trade price because they will want to make money by selling it on.

In the old days when saddlery shops sold saddles, I would have thought it a fair'ish price if it was in really good nick. It is a big brand name and a popular model.

I would say that is reasonable if it is in good nick. I must say, I have an 18" medium, Sankey dressage for sale that is absolutely divine but no interest (even at £1200 less than I paid 3 years - on about 10 rides (!!!!!!) ago  ) so I guess it is just the market.

Where have you advertised? I heard Saddles Direct arent buying saddles anymore but selling them "on your behalf" and giving you the cash once it has sold because the market is so bad. I guess you could drop the price for a really quick sale....

Ironically, I am after a 17-17 1/2 " med-wide and can't find one I like for a reasonable price, so maybe it is just the larger saddles that arent selling well?

I'm trying to sell a Bates jump saddle, 17.5 inch, but have had no interest. It came with the horse but I've been advised it doesn't really fit. Was told by my saddler that I should be able to get £550 - £600 but no interest at all.

Really need the money but don't want to drop price too much as it was part of the price I negotiated on the horse and I can't afford to be too much out of pocket as I've just had to buy a replacement saddle.
