can you recommend a body protector, i have never used one but think i may start too, need to buy a new hat so thought i would get a body protector too.

Rodney powell best one i've ever had, when you get it put it in the airing cupboard to warm up slightly then wear it for about an hour and it shapes perfectly

rodney powell didn't fit me very well, too high at the back of the neck. I have an airowear zippa and would highly recommend that.

RaceSafe.
You don't even need to put it in the airing cupboard for it to fit perfectly. It does that when you get the right size anyway

I have a Just Toggs and have to say it is very comfy. It is similar to racesafe as is hinged all over (feel inside it) but solid outside. I love the big hinged bit at the back...never catches the saddle.

What ever fits you!

Seriously, all the protectors are made to the same standard so there is nothing to choose on safety IF it fits correctly. It's not about size, it's about proportions and adjustability.

I just went looking for a new bp and there is no question to various lines and models fit very differently. Both the Racesafe and another top one were too long in the back and too short in the front for me (not adjustable areas) so no matter how comfortable I found them they weren't going to be the right choice. The RP was just the wrong proportions, another was too tight in the shoulders or too lose in the lower back depending on the size . . . you see my point. I ended up with an Airowear and it seems to suit.

I had quite an old custom bp before so I went in suspecting none of them would feel "right" and it's true, comfort as in "something you'd wear to relax on the sofa" isn't really part of it. What you want is something that allows you to ride correctly and be safe, not a specific name or style.
