Can you recommend a brilliant fly spray?

Deosect.
Seems expensive but will easily last you several years. Absolutely fantastic.

Last year I was recommended, via this forum, Leovet Phaser fly spray:

It works fabulously for my mare - I had tried all the sprays in the tack shop and all the home-made remedies, but this was the only one that stopped the nasty biting flies in the woods. Previously, the situation was so bad that I was unable to hack in the woods between June and August because my mare was so distressed, but Phaser is so effective that I can ride out normally throughout the summer.

Many thanks to Thistle, BBs and HBII for their recommendation.

I can't remember the name of mine - it's in a white bottle with green writing and it has avocado oil in it. I also use Naf which worked well too

Avon Skin so Soft (woodland fresh) spray is absolutely amazing stuff - H smells lovely in summer her coat benefits from the oil and there's no flies on us!

Nettex stuff works really really well

Also have heard the Phaser stuff is also fantastic, but the Nettex was one of the most effective against really bad flies and midges, and seems to last ages

I think the one you use is super fly plus, white bottle, green writing. I use this one and it is great! The spray nozzle is really good, not weak like some of them, and i love the smell of this one. I have no problem with spraying myself before a summer ride! Quite good value aswell at about £12 for a litre bottle.

Best one Ive used is phaser but my horse reacted to it so tried coopers, deosect, home made, naf etc etc. Nothing compared to phaser, stunk awful though.
