Picked up my trailer today (old Rice Eventer) and love it!

However, the hitch (perfectly safe) is old and stiff and I really struggled to unhitch it when I got home (seller hitched it up for me) so I worry I will struggle to hitch it myself and then worry the whole time it is hitched! OH will look at it for me this week and grease/WD40 it but I would be happier of ot was replaced.

So, can you buy replacement hitches that you you can fit yourself (brother in law is a mechanic type) or can I take it somewhere to get it replaced? I am am based in Nottingham.

Thanks

I think the hitches are fairly standard - our local mender (Berkshire) replaced ours. As Mike007 says a good clean and lots of grease will probably solve the problem (remember to also grease ball on car too!) but if it is worn then Warwickshire Trailers Ltd are great for spare parts. They carry old Rice spares which they will mail out.

I changed mine complete for a modern self locking hitch, it transformed hitching up. Those old Rice hitches are a nightmare. If you go down this route, get someone mechanical to do it for you because of the brake mechanism.
