Can you sell a horse who's had a Kissing Spines op?

Does anyone have experience of the long term saleability of post-op horses? The horse I'm interested in had the op 3 years ago, hasn't had a lame day since (touch wood) and has raced and evented since the op. His re-hab maintenence consists of lunging minimum once a week in pessoa or similar (ie low and round). Has anyone else bought or sold a horse with a similar history?
 
I would have thought it would be hard to get a horse pased by a vet if it had been operated on for this problem, so it's value would be pretty low unless it was an exceptional competition animal. Also the insurance companies would surely put a huge exclusion on it ?
 
I know someone who sold a horse post-op. It was about a year or so after and he was just a happy hacker/low level riding club type - sold pretty quickly and fairly recently too.
 
Yes, sold my horse last year ,think it was 2 years since he had the op. Despite the fact that he was absolutely stunning, perfect conformation and looks, had won dressage with high scores, and won SJ and was the most perfect gentleman, and passed a 5 stage vetting with no problems, and was checked over by a top physio who wrote a report on him saying that he was the most physically perfect horse she'd seen for a very long time ( in terms of how good/supple his muscles were and how correctly he used himself) the horse was very very difficult to sell.
Price wise, they will always be cheap, and the insurance will exlude the back, and therefore all 4 legs. So virtually un insurable hence difficult to sell.

Not to say they are useless horses tho- far from it. Your one sounds pretty much perfect as well !
 
Thank you very much. You are giving me the answers I expected but didn't want! At least I know where I am sale wise if we do buy the horse. Any further input (especially saying the horse would be re-saleable at a proper price) very welcome.
