I always get confused with all these shows and such about cameras. And this isn't a little compact I could sneak in in my pocket. It's a hench canon SLR. Tbh, Doubt I would take it cos it's so big to carry around while shopping, but I'd like to have the choice.

So can you take cameras???

Thanks

yes you can but do NOT use the flash. I remember 1 year when someone took a photo during someones round, horse spooked and rider came off all because of flash photography

You can but they dont allow flash photography as it can be really off putting for the horses and therefore unfair on the cometitors as well!!
It was soooo annoying last year when the commentators kept telling people not to put the flash on in their photos and people kept ignoring them!

its really distracting if you're in the audience as well with all the flashes going off left, right and centre!

You can get some really good photos without the flash

I'm not sure, I took my SLR to HOYS this year as my YO was showing, but I was told that, for the first time ever, spectators weren't allowed to take pictures... not even without a flash. Needless to say I just did it discretely and thankfully got some lovely shots!

I think I'm just going to take my little compact tonight, like I did last year. It's easier to carry and I have nobody there that I particularly want good photos of. Was quite pleased with the results I got from it last year as it's pretty basic and these are taken from the galleries right at the top of the stands...
