Is there a course where you can go and learn to barefoot trim, etc. I don't know that I would bother to do it myself but if would be really great to understand exactly how it should be done!

Lots of people on here keep saying that they rasp their horses feet inbetween trims? Is this because they don't get enough road work? Is it easy/hard to understand how to do it?

Help and information please!!

I have only rasped the sharp edges off of my tb's hooves but it's only as they had sharp bits that I was worried would catch her legs when I rode. This was before the farrier was able to come out to trim them. I don't touch my welsh x's feet as she's had problems with hers before which I don't want to mess up and send her lame again on. Also my Welsh D's feet are only trimmed by the farrier as he is having corrective trimming :)!

I think rasping off sharp edges is fine, however I would never trim down or reshape the feet in any way as I am not qualified to do so and may cause more harm than good!

Couldn't help you about the trimming courses, however they do sound like a really good idea :D
