I rent a couple of acres from a neighbour so would be quite extravagant to buy a quad just to pull a harrow occasionally. Is there any reason why I can't tow with my car?

Yep I had a big ring on mine and it works fine. ie to put on ball hitch or you could adapt a cleft hitch(or whatever they are called). Fine to do. I found it better to harrow in frosty weather ie when ground is hard or bone dry summer. That will spread it well then.

Sorry I used it to spread the manure around but obviously did also do for thatch etc. Its quite good to flatten rutted fields as well.

Never seen it done with anything else tbh. Old YO had a quad but was always using it to check on his sheep and never got round to harrowing. So liveries who had 4x4s used to do it instead. Current YO uses 4x4 as well.

Yes I've done it too, with an old Discovery. Obviously the turning circle isn't as good as a tractor, but it's certainly quick. Especially for spreading poo.
