I was just wondering if you could use a cooler rug for your horse during day/night. She has a heavy turnout rug which she's been wearing up to now but I feel it's getting a bit warm for her but it's too cool without one.

I use mine occasionally as a stable rug. Only problem is if they roll the shavings stick like glue!!

You can use coolers in the stable or lightweight turnout / stable rugs... My lad is out naked by day and only in a lightweight turnout overnight on cooler nights and he is fully clipped...

I bought a cheap quilted stable rug...it has a satin feel inside and out shavings don't stick to it!!! I did use my thermatex rug once...took me three days to get all shavings off it!

I am manic about shavings (and hay) sticking to my clothes too..and this effects what I buy for myself - no fleeces on the 'outside'. Do I need to get out more

Yes definitely :)

Although I have had to bin several fleece coolers as they just get ruined with hairs getting stuck in them or getting torn. I opt for cotton sheets or rain sheets now!
