Anybody know of or can recommend small ranches/cattle ranches/dude ranches/horse farm/another variation of a ranch that offer or are willing to take volunteers/workers as part of a gap year for an 18 year old UK student from late August 2014.

A friend of mine went on a ranch holiday last year to the White Stallion Ranch in Arizona and loved it. When she came back she said that they take people as yard hands and there was a British girl out there. Don't know the ins and outs of accommodation, pay, insurance etc but try them.

My sisters husband used to work at one in Georgia about an hour out of Atlanta that take students on gap years. They lead trail rides for tourists and there is also a breeding program there for Quarter horses, housing is provided, not glamorous but the food is apparently good. If you're interested I can get the information for you.
