Not sure of the grass species but it is hay from Canada. It looks very, very green and fresh and I have an analysis label but it doesnt show which grasses are included.
Pure timothy? What price are they charging for each bale; timothy is quite an expensive seed over here. Our hay runs at around 20% timothy; planning to increase this slightly next year though and bring it up to around 30%.
Yes our hay is always green and remains so for at least a year. Canadian hay never lies out in fields, most farmers bring it straight into the barns as soon as it is baled, so it rarely gets sunbleached. It also often only takes a day or two to dry out so again is rarely sunbleached.
If it is bright green then there will be a fair amount of alfalfa in it I'd guess, combined with Kentucky Bluegrass. Both these plants keep their green colour, although the KB will turn a slightly silver colour.
