I was due to be going to a camp next month over the bank holiday weekend.
It's obviously now been cancelled due to the virus doing the rounds and I totally understand that.
Where do I stand with getting a refund?
I've contacted the organisers and they've said they won't refund the money only transfer me to another camp date.
I can't do any of the other dates so they've said they'll hold my money towards camps they intended to run next year which they havent get announced the dates for.
I'm just a bit peeved as I understand they need to keep in business I'm self employed myself but I've paid the balance off in full, not just the deposit and were in testing times at the moment and I could really do with the near £300 in my account right now.

Any advice welcome please

There were no terms and conditions it was booked through equo events and I've looked through all my paperwork and the organisers website and nothing

Did you use a credit card? That would give you protection for a cancellation. Alternatively do you have annual travel insurance? I think mine covers breaks of 2 nights or more

I dont think they can legally hold onto the money? They wont have paid out for instructors etc. anyway so I dont see why they need to keep hold of your money if they havent had any outlays? I would just tell them you need the money put back into your account.

I agree you should be entitled to a refund. Everything I’ve booked to date that has been cancelled has either been an automatic refund, or option to either receive a refund or have your entry transferred to the new date.

I was thinking of writing the same post this morning and I'm guessing it is the same camp organiser!

I can't do any of the other suggested camp dates at the moments and am in two minds as to what to do. I understand that things are tight at the moment but I still think they should offer a full refund.

Not great advertising and doesn't exactly encourage me to book on future camps..

I don't think they can hold your money. Especially as you've paid for a service which you haven't received. If there was something to say non refundable then that's understandable but as you say no T&C's so!

I'm on the committee of a dog club. We had a weekend training event in April which has of course been cancelled. I emailed everybody going and offered them their money back or the option to transfer if we managed to hold it in the autumn. Most people said to hold on to the money but if they can't do the date in the autumn or it doesn't happen we will of course refund them.

Update
After phoning citizens advice and quoting them in an email the organiser got in touch. She wanted to be able to give a refund however the management of establishment didn't want to and were the ones pushing for transfers only.
She was very apologetic and thanked me for my email.
Refund will be refunded in due course as the finance department has obviously been effected by this virus.
