I just need to have a little rant, and hear anyone elses horse sales from hell? Or even any that have just gone smoothly? I have been trying to sell my arab for a while now, but all i get is time waster after time waster!! It is SO frustrating!! If people are not interested then PLEASE just say so!!
haha sorry for the rant, but needed to let some of this frustration out!
Please share your stories of how selling your horse has gone :)

Yes me too.

I'm tempted to add a number of statement to the bottom of my ad like

"If she doesn't go into a contact when you come to try her then don't accuse me of being a timewaster, maybe you just aren't as good as you think."

"Don't ring me to ask if my horse has ever spooked at anything, save yourself time, buy a mountain bike instead"

When we sold my daughters old JC 14.2 JC pony, I got sick to death being asked 'Does he go double clear all the time?' Felt like saying, no, he is a bloody horse and he does get poles down sometimes, that is why he is not a bloody JA pony. Go and look at his BSJA record, it tells the whole story.

People.

I totally agree!! The ones that annoy me the most "Your horse is fantastic I am extremly interested, I will ring you tomorrow" ..............nothing!! And yes my horse is flighty, she is pure bred arab, what did you expect?? It is all so frustrating!!!

I don't know, but i think well mannered and schooled should come into it. Flighty is probably not the best thing to say, an awful lot of arabs are'nt flighty but put an unbalanced, wooden handed leg nagging novice on top and they can be perceived that way. So maybe add not suitable for novices on to the bottom of your ad.

dont get me wrong she is an absolute saint and beautiful to ride in the right hands, however eventhough it does say not for novices in my ad, it doesn't stop them coming. which turns my mare into speedy wreck!

The only answer is to screen them over the phone, if they are going from bombproof cob to arab then they will still be novices, have you tried advertising on arabianlines.com ? You will get more experienced types through there.

yes, she is on arabianlines, and have had some lovely people contact me, however some have not been very truthful on there ability to ride, which has become more than obvious once they are on.

We turned away an awful lot of people from viewing the horse we have just sold from talking to them on the phone. Fortunately that worked for us and we have found a great buyer who is just the kind of person we were looking for to have him. Even that was really stressful because of the emotions involved so can well understand your frustration OP.

Hope everything works out and you find a nice new home for your horse soon.
