I was planning to go XC today, then decided against it when I saw the forecast in the week. However now I am tempted, particularly after a fab XC lesson in the driving rain and wind yesterday!

I don't have studs, some of the course if I remember rightly is in quite long grass. It's very windy here at the mo and the sky is blackening...but I am still sorely tempted!

The other thing to consider is that my house is a tip and I need to dig out his deep litter today!

Gah, what shall I do??? Please help me decide, kind people!!

Go to XC!!! Ull have loads of fun and if you don't go you'll only regret it all day!! I'd killl for the chance to go today!! Horses are all weather hobbies!! x

LOL all I can say is you must have it WAY drier than us poor folks Oop North. I can't wait to do some XC practice but reckon it will be late March at the earliest before i find anywhere remotely dry enough to practice!!
Go as long as transporting your horse is not a risk in the wind.

I thought of this too - I have a 6t lorry, will be ok to take that out won't it??

I wouldn't risk it, especially without studs to be honest. Horses don't melt in the rain, but travelling in wind and XC on very wet ground with no studs could go wrong. There will be other days...

Depends HOW windy of course. In very strong winds any high sided vehicle is a risk and whilst more stable and heavier than a trailer a lorry is also higher. I have seen days I didn't take out my old lorry - a downgraded HGV but that was in very high winds.

Lol @ slinky! Ha ha you haven't seen my house, it's like a bombsite!

Well the sky has turned black here and it's hammering it down

and the wind is insane. Spoke to my instructor and she suggested maybe wait, have another XC lesson next weekend, and it's on again on 6 December so I can go then.

Bit gutted, but I suppose really at the end of the day I don't want to risk him, also we're just getting going and I want him to think it's FUN - and I'm not sure he'd enjoy it in this.

When is this horrendous weather going to go away??? I am thankful though that we don't have it as bad as those poor folks in Cumbria!

Hehe the perils of being horsey...I just hope I don't get any unexpected visitors! Particularly now I have arranged to go and play ponies all day now instead

I'm not far from the Xc course, skewby and it's horrid here - very strong cold winds and pelting down ATM - going should be ok but it's very gusty to be driving a lorry in...

I wouldn't go

Thanks guys - to be honest I think I made the right choice, wasn't it FOUL? And bloody cold!! I don't think we'd have had much fun
