I have a show coming up and can't decide what classes to do, i usually do 2'3-2'6 and 2'6-2'9, have done 3 shows doing these heights SJ that i can think of off the top of my head and others have been derby jumping or xc.
1st time had 1 refusal in each class
2nd time placed in 2'3-2'6 and 1 pole down 2'6-2'9
3rd time placed in 2'3-2'6 and 1 refusal in 2'6-2'9 jump off (my fault completely)
So i can't decide if i should do 2'3-2'6 & 2'6-2'9 or 2'6-2'9 & 2'9-3' or all 3 but want to make sure im not doing too much.
What do you think?

I'd do 2'3-2'6 and 2'6-2'9 and leave the 3ft completely until you are established and going clear (or at least no stops/runouts) at those heights.

It's so hard to build your confidence up and so easy to ruin it by moving up before you're both ready.

When the jumps look piddly (and I mean all the jumps, including the jump off phase) it's time to move up. And not before.

Speaks the voice of experience ;)

From me, (who does not do showjumping at all I must admit) I'd agree with teebagsmum and leave out the 3' for the time being, and instead spend some time gaining confidence and experience at up to 2'9. Last thing you want to do is go too far, too fast, it won't pay off in the long run.

I've done 3' in derby jumping before and for some reason had a refusal at two sj fences but was clear with the xc
I keep thinking there is no point moving up when were not going clear at 2'6-2'9 but others have said i should do the 2'9-3' so am questioning myself.
