I don't know if any of you remember this thread http://www.horseandhound.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=591640
But basically it was after countless vet visits over Andy's liver, he was heading downhill rapidly and not responding to any medication we put him on. Vet said if we could find something that worked he could live a mostly pain free life in the field. On top of this he also had a very sore back most likely cause is the loaner being incapable of putting a saddle on correctly (but that's a different story.)
Andy had yet another set of bloods taken last Friday to see if the latest medicine we tried him on worked, we both were not very hopefull especially as he has had 4 colic eppisodes on the previous one.
Vet was back out on Friday just gone and wow what a difference!! His bloods were nearly perfect, he condition scored him at perfect as he had rapid weight loss on other medications. He said Andy just looked like a different horse. Now the liver is all better we started on his back, danilon didn't make a difference so we've given him some steroid injections to help it heal itself.
I thought the best news was that at 13 I wouldn't have to have my beloved pony pts, nope the best news is in 4 weeks time once the steroids have taken effect I need to brush off Andy's saddle as he's coming back into work!!!! I never thought I would see this day and crying just thinking about it. Vet also seems to think that there is no reason he can't compete at the level he used to but we won't even be thinking about school work until autumn.
Better go find my BP and neckstrap as well
