Ok so i thought Id pop by for some good advice about a situation i have found myself in, basically i am looking for a 6 month to a year project, i have been looking for unbroken horses as i do prefer working with a blank canvas.
However I have been told about two horses today, both sound reasonably ok, have a couple of issues (dont know about them in total depth at the moment) but i cannot pick which horse and I'm feeling like taking them both in! (I have plenty of grass, rugs and love so its not a massive issue, but i cannot garentee i would have enough time or energy for 3/4 horses.)
First horse; TBX Sport Horse, sire - Lips (local to st. austell) 16.2hh 5 year old chestnut gelding, broken in, riding out on roads etc, had no schooling, and did not have a very good "breaking in" experience which means he can be a little cold backed when you get on him, but apparently does nothing but round up a bit. She would like £750 for him (I dont no what comes with him either) he hasnt been ridden for the last couple of months so would need re starting. If she doesn't sell him or get any interest in him he's going to the sales on saturday
.. I am used to quirky TB's, buckers and rearers (or though prefer buckers) and usually i can stop the bucks/rears/sillyness and a nice horse usually shines through.. (with some time.)
horse two- 17.2hh, he's between 5-7 years old, gelding - that is all i know about details, he's been ridden 3 times in 18 months and can be lively/difficult..
again, doesnt bother me but unless he's a complete nutter, i can deal with half a nut job but a whole one is dangerous. The man will probably give all his tack/rugs away with him as well and he is free or very little money anyway. This horse wont be sent to market (i dont think so anyway) if he is not sold but the man is desperate.
So do i ring and ask to go and see mr chestnut horse (no. 1) or do i go for the second one??? thoughts please!
