I advertised our gorgeous 14.1hh bay gelding on Horsemart 10 days ago and I haven't had one enquiry!! I realise it's not the best time of year to be selling, but he loves hunting and would give a novice rider the confidence to want to hunt more and more! Is anyone else struggling to sell at the moment? I've also word of mouthed loads locally and put up ads in sadlers, feed merchants etc. Any ideas?

We just bought a perfect 12.2 and luckily heard about it before it was advertised as once it was advertised [just after we phoned] they had loads of calls and views on website [pc website shows views each day]
We have now decided to sell our 11.2 and have two people interested without advertising, just word of mouth. One tried him yesterday and is trying again on Saturday , the other we have put off until after Saturday.
I also clipped a pony last week and they said they had outgrown him, I mentioned him on facebook and within a day he was tried and has gone on trial.
So there are people buying . Try pony club classified and mention if he is 100% safe [only if he is] people are crying out for these ponies and at good prices. We paid £3000 for the 12.2 and worth every penny

Could you pm me the advert? I have a client who isn't really looking until January, but if the right pony came along first at the right price they would be interested.

ive noticed a massive increase in the number of people trying to loan there horse at the moment (me inc!) because they cant sell for what the horse is worth, horses are litterally being given away because people are struggling for one reason or another!

try PRELOVED i sold my last one within 3days! although that is where i bought him from in the 1st place and his previous owner had been trying to sell for months but i got over double what she was asking and he went to a perfect home for him!
failing preloved try https://www.facebook.com/#!/groups/susanbussey/

He's on Horsemart, ad ref HM236AEF8 - let me know if you would like to take it further and I'll give you my contact details. Love your Pointer; we've 2 Germans and 1 English!! Thanks x.

contact your local hunts, he looks lovely and I would have thought would sell almost overnight at that price if he is bombproof !

Definitely put him on the hunt websites and PC classifieds. He sounds like he would be perfect for PC Tetrathlon so try putting that in the ad as well.

Well OP, never mind, you have had a free advert on H&H now, so that should help.

I thought there were rules about advertising on this forum?

I got an infaction and 3 points on my license for asking if anyone knew where I could source a particular saddle in a particular width and size as I was having problems. I was apparently advertising/marketing! It's ok to put links to horses for sale though, and for people to ask where they can get a particular rug etc.

Not that I'm bitter or owt ;) :D

I'd take the part out about him getting bored in the school, if your riding any horse in the school properly and not just in circles they shouldn't find it boring.
It may be due to his size as well, he will only suit a child or small adult. He's nice though and I think the price is fair.

Another for the PC website!
Back in June we advertised our 12hh and he was gone within a week! He had a couple of quirks but was a nice pony and went to the perfect pony club home, couldn't have wished for a nicer home or quicker sale! He went for the asking price too. We had tons of enquiries and 6 people lined up to view if he wasn't sold.

I've just sold my 13.1 on Horsemart. We had no interest for about 10 days and then suddenly had loads of people email, then sold her to the first people to come and see her. Don't give up.

Your horse looks lovely and if you were nearer I may be tempted to have a look having lost old boy recently. You have a lot of views and I think its a good price.Re the school I disagree that is quite normal, not every horse can school and not every horse can hack out and yours is fab in traffic which is so important these days. We have had many horses that hate schooling but we just school when out and about.

Good luck if its still for sale next year give me a kick...just too soon after old boy at moment. I would try preloved as it doesnt cost.

not quite suitable as they want an alrounder that will flatwork too. Shame as your not far away either!

GSPs are the best :)

Just had a peek at the advert - have you tried phrasing it a bit differently?
E.g not 'he finds flatwork boring', but 'Flatwork is not his forte, although he is unflappable with a lovely character' and then really big up his achievements, e.g 'never refuses a jump, has done x/y/z and is very genuine' etc etc
I always find that a shorter advert puts people off, but don't write an essay. Also maybe sa few more pictures that really show him off and make him look like something special, although he does look fab jumping that hedge!
