On my dressage tests I keep getting the comment "quarters in in canter". I'm aware that she is slightly quarters in as we have a mirror in the indoor but when I put my leg back to push her over she goes disunited or changes leg. Only prelim/novice level. Any useful exercises to try? tips?

First have your horses back etc checked. My old man is stiffer on one rain and just before the physio is due, his canter goes more quarters in.

Brush up your shoulder in, in walk and trot and try and establish it in canter. I always find it a really useful exercise.

You should straighten by bringing the shoulders in line with the quarters. IE- dont put your leg on to push her 1/4s out (it doesnt work, as you've found!) but ride her shoulders in.
Hows your shoulder in at walk and trot? Because being able to ride a shoulder in will give you the guidance for the feeling you need to re-produce in the canter, except this time you're just straightening, not asking for a 3 track movement.

Thanks I'll give it a go. Back all check and up to date. To be honest she's done it for years but now focusing on dressage more so I need to get it sorted.
