I'm sorry but I just had to share as I am so relieved!

My retired horse for happy hacking, Inca, either walked or galloped like a mad thing in open fields, it's been my dream to have a horse that would canter sensibly on a hack. Although I've had Belle some time now I still hadn't cantered her on a hack as I wanted to do plenty of schooling before, to know that I had good control of her canter.

Well, today I hacked out with my mum cycling along with us. I trotted along a straight track in open fields and she was very calm so I said to mum that I would try a canter. Belle was really sensible! I could feel that she wanted to go faster but I could shorten her up and she was very balanced and lovely. She came back to a trot when I asked and then stood quietly as we waited for mum to catch up. :D I feel so much better now I've done it, I just had to share with some people that can understand the feeling. :)

Here are a few photos of us from before we went, please forgive my ridiculous expression in the second one (I think Belle is pretending to be Spanish in that one)!
