Capped Hocks

Will hock boots prevent/help capped hocks? I can't put rubber matting in as she's only going to be in for a couple more week and then sh'll be on 24/7 turnout so there's no point, as unless I put HUGE amounts of bedding in which I can't afford to do this doesn't seem to make any difference,

Another bale of straw or shavings so much cheaper than sore hocks that have rubbed on the concrete. Could you do a well mananged deep litter?
