car crate mat EVA?

Just bought a huge car crate 5'4 x 4'4 (no partitions) on eBay, so now thinking about what to put in it as it just has the wire mesh base at mo.

Would an EVA mat work as non slip base/bed or would dog claws wreck it? Would I need something like rubber backed vetbed on top still?

Car currently has a rubber boot mat in to protect carpet but the soft dog bedding slides a bit on it.

Use a rubber backed dirt trapper mat - seconds are cheap from splendidpets.
