I am hoping he will grow out of it, but Nelson is still suffering a little with car sickness :(
He doesn't object to going in the car, as it always means somewhere fun (walk, stables, visiting friends etc) but the poor little mite does probably throw up on one in three trips i would guess. It's not really a great option to just stop taking him out in the car as we lead a pretty active life and he would end up home alone which would be very unfair. There doesn't seem much logic to when he is sick - for example over the weekend he had to come on a longer trip (not ideal I know but unavoidable) of 60 miles and he was ok - yesterday he threw up on way back from yard which is 5 minutes away! It may have been related to his consumption of an entire carrot to be fair...
Anyway, what I'm after is any suggestions of how we can get him used to car journeys? I try to travel him on an empty stomach where possible, but someone suggested half a ginger biscuit before travelling, or some kind of scented car thing that reduces nausea?
He's 12 weeks old now btw.

Bracken puked constantly from 8 weeks to 16 weeks, then literally stopped overnight. We just travelled with a blanket underneath him. He's never, ever done it since. Keep the faith!

Some of them do go through a bit of a phase, but most grow out of it. A ginger biscuit might help settle his stomach. Others seem to benefit from travelling in a crate with a cover on it so they can't see out of the windows, so that might be worth a try too.

My two chucked every time for a couple of weeks. They were better loose in the boot of the 4x4 and I took them out every day for ten minutes then built it up.

Some say travel on an empty stomach but I find Ella is more likely to puke if she's not eaten. I try to feed her and let it settle for as png as possible before travelling. I'm losing faith that she'll grow out of it as she's 9 months now and still puking when in OH's car (I think the lower suspension has something to do with it). She's done 4 hour long trips in my mums car fine and 10 mins in OH's and we see breakfast again! I can tell when she's feeling sick now and I'm getting pretty skilled at catching it in a plastic bag.. (I don't drive btw!) Peppermint is meant to be very good too if you can woft a tissue with some on around his face!

I am experiencing the same at the moment with my six month old Rottweiler bitch. We brought her over by ferry from Ireland - so a mammoth journey - and she wasn't sick once.

However atm our limit is about ten minutes before being sick, I am just going to keep at it, little and often. She adores going in the car so it isn't because she is unhappy. Haven't tried the ginger biscuit trick yet, I expect there is a homeopathic remedy that could be tried too.

Thanks all - he's just about to be 3 months so sounds like we might have another good month or two of this before we can reasonably expect him to grow out of it! Have a supply of old towels for him to sit on at the moment, and will stick to short journeys where possible!
