Car sickness- what can I do?

When we picked up my two pups, they had a long car journey- Jack was sick twice, and Sky was sick once. They have since been on short car journeys to school and back, seperately, and they have been fine.
My pups are 12 weeks now and had all their jabs so can be taken for public walks.
So today we decided to take them to the woods for a short walk somewhere different. We travelled there ok, had a lovely walk, and got back into the car to come home. Sky fell asleep (

), but Jack started dribbling, and then was sick (it was a very short 5 min car journey).

They are only puppies, will they grow out of it? What can we do to help? Sky seemed fine today so I think it is just Jack.
It is a shame as we really want to be able to bring them with us to horse shows etc.

Just keep taking them out for very short journeys like that & very steady. My girl went in the car continually for 30mile round trips & was use to it very quickly.
I also used a remedy to give to her when I first picked her up & the journey was 1hr 30min & she was fine for that journey too.
If you keep having problems just give me a shout & I can send you some of the remedy.
Also on days you are not going out feed them in the car so they get use to it being a happy place.
 
Agree with k9h, lots of short car journeys, ginger and peppermint are also good to prevent the feeling a sickness, always travel them on an empty stomach and maybe try a crate as it lessens the motion, someone one mentioned placing cardboard underneath them saying it cured their dog....it's all worth a try.
The dribbling/salavating tends to be more stress related...some maybe try some rescue remedy.
Luckily none of mine are car sick as they are in the car on a daily basis, I always take new rescue puppies all over with me in the car to get them used to the journey.
 
Thanks- they where fed at 2ish, and we went for the walk at about 6.
I wonder if it is because we put them on the back seat on their own? As they are now too big to both sit on my lap- however when we took them out seperately, Jack sat on my lap and he was inquisitive and happy, didn't show any signs of being ill. Will try the eating in the car to make it a happy place...
Will have to take them more places! Now I have started work I guess they can come in the car when mum takes me/picks me up as it is only about 2 minutes in the car.

Thanks for the advice- bit suprised by it as our last dog absalutely LOVED travelling- the second you opened the car door she lept in and would travel for hours quite happily!
 
My staffie was always car sick no matter how long the journey. We tried all the short trips etc but he was still sick.

We gave traveleez tablets before long journeys.

Didn't feed if we were not going to be out long and fed a lot earlier if we were.

Dog grew out of it eventually. I can't remember how old he was but it was at least a year.
 
My Dalmation was terribly car sick as a pup, as above, whenever we went on a long journey the vet gave us travel sickness tablets which worked brilliantly, she stopped being travel sick very soon after using the tablets. I think a large amount of pups are car sick when they are young, I am sure they will grow out of it.
 
If you can put a cushion in the car next to the window so they can sit on it high enough to look out properly that might help.
