My wee collie started getting car sick when his ears stood up. Has anyone else had that?
He was perfectly happy in car before and now he will get sick multiple times in a vet trip.
Will it settle after a few months? I think it’s something to do with his ears (balance perhaps?)
Or are there tablets for dogs who get car sick like people?

He was also very very underweight when I got him so possibly he had nothing to get sick in previous drives but he seemed a lot calmer and happier in car too. Now he just looks motion sick

Many, many years ago we had a Lab who was car sick on every journey. The vet prescribed something, a sedative, I think and she grew out of it eventually, probably at about 12 months old.

More recently we had a Rottweiler who was ill (both ends) after less than 5 minutes in the car. We just kept practicing with very short journeys and she grew out of it, too.
 
My oldest was very drooly as a pup/sodden legs but grew out of it. His previous owner used to let him ride loose/up front so a bit of stability in a crate in the rear also helped I'm sure.
Also be aware of the general stability of the vehicle (my Dad had a 4×4 that was very high and wobbly) and your driving ;) especially on windy roads.
There can also be an element of separation anxiety (you in the front with them away from you).

When my dog was an adult and he got stressed/noisy over certain things like a long down stay, my trainer said 'was he car sick as a puppy?'
 
strugeron tablets, and leave the window open a crack was what finally sorted it for one of mine who was horrendous with motion sickness rather than anxiety

Second the travel sickness tablets (but they can make them sleepy) ginger biscuits and a crate. We have a collie who when he was a pup could make himself travel sick by trying to watch everything passing, so it could be that yours is big enough now to see out of the side windows. Maybe reduce his sideways view and see if that helps?
 
My dog (1 yo) gets car sick as she's so busy standing up and trying to watch everything going on. Some days she's fine and others not so much :oops: I've got some tablets from the vets as I didn't want her to start disliking travelling in the car. I don't give them to her every journey, just those I think she's more likely to throw up on or when I would struggle to deal with throwing up if she did.

Oooh I might try this with mine, I reckon it will either make her more stressed because she feels more separated or because she can't see what's happening orbetter because there's not much to see and will then actually sit or lie down.
 
He actually does lay down/sit for car rides
Unfortunately I don’t think he will ever be big enough to see out the window unless he jumps up on his back legs
He’s quite a laid back dude
Some really helpful suggestions tho and very uplifting to hear some dogs grow out of it! 😍

I’m just gonna ask vet this evening as wolfie is heading anyway for paw check up
I can mention this and they can suggest a dose cuz he’s very small
