I am looking for a "new to me" car which can take two lurcher size dogs, plus assorted horse stuff, ideally a small estate or hatchback, where the boot floor is level with bumper, not dropped below it.
Preferably diesel and given my budget of £4000, it'll probably be an older model. There is a huge choice but its hard to find out if the load area is flat to bumper, so any suggestions gratefully received.

Audi estates (A6 anyway) have flat boot floors. However, they are not the cheapest to buy 2nd hand but are pretty good fuel wise. I believe the Skoda Octavia estate and also the VW Passats you can get a false 'floor' you can put in to raise the floor level.

I shall be following this thread with great interest. Might look at the Fabia, never looked at it as she lives too faraway, but my sister had one, but did say mpg not very good. It was an old model though.

I've had Peugeots in past and loved them, don't need this one to tow though, just do easily commute and be able to very dogs etc.
Never thought of false floor. That could be an idea...

mine used to do 46 to the gallon-I loved that car

skoda octavia is a nice car and good size and you def can get false floor for them

the other option might be a volvo 70/80 not sure but I think the boot is level

Maybe I'm old enough for a Volvo now.!
Keep suggestions coming please, indoors due to weather so doing some Google research
