Hello,
I've just recently taken on an ex race horse who had a carbon implant inserted due to breaking down. (He raced with the implant)
3 years on and he is fine and enjoys going out and about. He's 9 years old now and enjoys a happy hacking life.
Just wondered if anybody had a horse with a carbon implant? And what they went on to do with him or her? As I've been told he could go on to do XC or even race again! Just wanted to hear some people's advice and or stories. Thanks :)

Hi. I had an ex-racer/hurdler who also had carbon implants in both forelegs. She hurdled once and flat raced once after the op and was then hunted for three years before retiring to stud.
She was given to me as a 19 yr old and I hacked her until she was 25.
She never, ever had problems.
Hope this helps and have lots of fun with your boy!

Thank you so much for your reply, I know every horse if different but this has put my mind at ease a little.
Did you do any XC or hunting? Or was she solely used as a happy hack? :)

I hunted her once but before I had her she was hunted by her owner with the Berkeley, so lots of hills, walls and rhines (very wide ditches!) then I just hacked but she was very forward and trot was her favoured pace!
